The Single Tile Concept

Lida – Decorating Consultant

You have probably noticed a growing trend in the single tile concept, wherein one tile is used for both floor and walls. This look is now becoming very popular for bathrooms and wet areas, with subtle changes being reflected in the different size/profile of tiles used. A matte finish for the floors and a polished or lappato finish on the walls can make for a beautiful contemporary look.

The upside to this look is that one tile can mean a minimal cost outlay. Using its matching feature décor wall tile and adding a floating vanity can create a seamless finish, making even the smallest of bathrooms pop.

A couple of our favourite combinations in this styling are the use of mosaics, hexagons even subways from the same range, as pictured.  You can see the abundance of textures and contrast just by placing the right profile of tile in the right spot. Of course these looks can add up cost wise if it’s a particularly larger area, though in our experience, the bathroom is the one place you should invest a little more in.

Being able to work closely with Architects, Interior Designers and Builders alike, we are lucky to get the inside scoop on how our tiles get styled, and in turn pass these trends on to you, our clients. So rest assured that when you come to Ceramic City for your selections we have an abundance of tile inspo to really get your juices flowing.
